Gråhøe er det høyeste punktet i Reinheimen, og det eneste toppen over den magiske 2000-meter grensa. Reinheimen er det lite brukte fjellområdet mellom Ottadalen og nordre delen av Gudbrandsdalen. I dette området finnes ingen tilrettelagt friluftsvirksomhet. Mitt utgangspunkt for denne turen var Rånå i nordenden av Asbjørndalen like ved Bjorli.

Jeg ankom parkeringen ved Rånå i 6-tiden tirsdag kveld. Dagens plan var å komme seg et lite stykke inn i Asbjørndalen for å etablere leir, før turen skulle gå videre til Gråhøe i neste morgen. Jeg gikk avgårde 20 minutter senere i et lett snøvær. Felleføret var litt dårlig som resulterte i litt kladder. I starten var det oppgådd løype innover Asbjørndalen, men da jeg passerte tregrensa mistet jeg sporet og måtte starte å brøyte løype på egenhånd

Vekkerklokka ble stilt inn med tanke på en relativt tidlig start. Uansett føre og mål ville jeg utnytte dagen best mulig.

Utsikten fra teltåpningen

Dagen etter våknet jeg til sol og skyfri himmel. Noen ryper kaklet litt i buskaset rundt teltet. Det ble en stor porsjon grøt til frokost. Jeg kom meg avgråde klokken 0850, og kom raskt inn i "brøytemodusen" innover i Asbjørndalen. Det var ganske tungt å gå. Jeg klarte likevel å holde et ganske bra tempo. Innmarsjen til foten av Gråhøe var som ventet av den drøye typen. Klokken var blitt ti over 12 da jeg var kommet inn til starten av den siste oppstigningen mot toppen. Dagens første lunsjstopp ble tatt der i kanten av Dordiholet.Gråhøe ble besteget 1415. Det var god utsikt mot Jotunheimen i sør. Glittertinden, Galdhøpiggen, Storjuvtind og Skardstinden var lette å kjenne igjen. Det var også god utsikt mot Hestbrepiggane, og mellom de lette skyene over Skarvedalseggje ble også Tverrådalskyrkja observert.

Det ble et kort opphold på toppen. Den lave temperaturen kombinert med en isende vind gjorde at jeg raskt begynte å fryse. Jeg kom meg derfor raskt ned til Storbreen.
Hjemturen over Storbreen ble også ganske drøy. Det var lite referansepunkter i den store hvite flata, og framdriften ble mindre merkbar. Mot slutten av breen dukket Tafjordfjellene opp i vest . Karitinden og Tordnose tronet majestetisk i horisonten. Det var et flott skue, og en tur til Tafjordjellene står på lista for fremtidige turer. Etter nok en kort matpause kom jeg med ned i mine egne spor i Asbjørndalen . Det var godt å slippe å brøyte mer løype...
Dyktig sliten var jeg tilbake ved teltet klokken ti over 18. Da hadde jeg vært ute i drøye 9 timer. Jeg var godt fornøyd med dagens innsats og opplevelser. Norges mest isolerte 2000-meter var besteget.
