Den brede Dyrhaugsryggen er en klassisk og populær skitur fra Turtagrø i Hurrungane. Denne mai-lørdagen ville vi imidlertid prøve oss på en av rennene ned til Ringsbotn fra toppen av Store Dyrhaugstind. Den vestvendte fjellsiden byr på mange snørenner som ikke er alt for bratte. Vi kom tilfeldigvis over en variant som resulterte i en av årets artigste og flotteste nedkjøringer. Fast, fin og myk vårsnø, sammen med et orginalt rutevalg gjør at denne ruta lett kan anbefales til andre.

Fra Turtagrø bestiges "Nordre" Dyrhaugstind enkelt via Hurrangenes lengste og drøyeste motbakke. Fra "Nordre" smalner Dyrhaugsryggen betraktelig av. Med skia på sekken og stive skisko kan noen av klyvepartiene opp til Store være litt "tricky". Det er flere veivalgsalternativer opp til Store. Denne dagen fulgte vi et spor som unngikk det siste bratte partiet i fjellsiden ut mot Ringsbotn til høyre.

Nedkjøringen i rennesystemet startet like etter toppvarden. De fleste av oss beholdt skia på sekken de første høydemeterne, men etter få meter var de på.

Store Dyrhaugstind svever i skyene. Spennende utsikt mot Midtre Ringstind og Stølsmaradalstind lenger bak.

Deretter bar det nedover i "topprenna" før vi dro over en liten rygg mot høyre for så havne inn i en ny renne som vi skulle følge helt ned. Heldigvis hadde noen kjørt før oss og vist vei. Hvis ikke hadde vi nok valgt å kjøre en av de mer opplagte brede rennene som ender på kanten av Ringsbreen under Midtre Ringstind . Flaks eller ikke, renna som førte nedover var helt super.

Rennesystemet ned mot Ringsbotn fra Store Dyhaugstind. Nedkjøringen gikk ned i renna til høyre for ryggen midt i bildet.

Rennesystemet og snøforholdene var så bra at denne turen lett havnet blant topp 3 av nedkjøringer denne sesongen
