V – skaret er muligens mest kjent som et punkt man passerer når man klatrer Skagastølstraversen, men har også en snørenne som har blitt populær blant brattkjøringsentusiastene.

Etter lang afterski på lørdags kvelden var troppen samlet søndags formiddag for helgens andre høydepunkt. V – skaret nord for Midte Skagstølstind . Turen går inn Skagstølsdalen, forbi Tindeklubbhytta og inn til Fremste Skarstølsvatnet . Et stort snøskred på vestsiden i Skarstølsbotn minner på viktigheten av å holde seg litt oppe i høyden på østsiden av dalen. Det har gått flere fatale ras der .

Sola og temperaturen var som vanlig med oss da vi begynte å skrå opp mot renna som lå skjult for oss lenger inne i dalen. Vi valgte en rute som medførte mye traversering i stein. Det mest hensiktsmessige er nok å gå inn i enden av Fremste Skagstølsvatnet og rett opp renna

Det gis da ikke rom for unødige stopp og fall. Renna svinger seg nedover, noe som medfører at man bør kjøre ”safe” for å ikke falle i en eventuell stein. Perfekt våt snø gjorde at selv bestemor ville hygget seg i lia ned mot Skagstølsdalen. De mest ihuga av oss valgte å kjøre ned bratthenget i Skarstølsbotnen, noe som endte i elleve tall og en fart som jeg sjelden klarer å oppnå på ski.

Heldigvis var fjellsidene opp mot Skagstølsryggen bare for snø, men ligger det snø og is der bør man være svært forsikting med tanke på hva som kan falle ned. Steinsprang så vi heldigvis lite til. Selve renna er såpass bratt mot slutten at man må være obs hvis det er mye våt snø som kan skli ut. For å redusere faren kan man kjøre renna tidligere på dagen fordi solen varmer opp snøen i hele renna.
